Confidence and Bravery
Most people correlate confidence with bravery. Though these two words have similar meanings, if you look closely, they are different from each other.
When you say that you are confident, you say that you believe in yourself. It means that you are sure that you can accomplish tasks. You do not doubt your skills and capabilities. You do not have those short moments of hesitation.
On the other hand, when you are brave, you are a risk-taker. You are the kind of person who is not afraid to face your fears. You are eager to try new things and to explore the world.
Confidence is believing in yourself, and bravery is being fearless. These two words may sound the same when you put it in the same situation. But this is where we divulge into that line between them.
You are confident that you can do a perfect dive on your first time, but you are not brave enough to jump into the pool to try it. The first sentence shows that you are confident that you are capable of doing a perfect dive, but you are not brave enough to take the risk.
You are willing to jump into the pool to try doing a perfect dive, but you are not confident that you can do it on your first time. In this sentence, it shows your bravery and your self-doubt.
Some people are confident in their selves, but they are not fearless. Some are brave but have self-doubt. If you try to understand yourself and others more, you will be able to see which one they are. And in rare cases, you might even discover that some people possess both traits. It all depends on how they look at and deal with certain situations in their life.
Remember that being confident does not already mean that you are brave and vice versa. But not just because you are only one of the two things, it does not mean that you will stay like that. There is always room for self-improvement. That is true in life.
You are you
I always think about how average my life is for someone my age. I see teens like me who are already successful in life. Some already have their own business; some are famous on the internet, and some are wealthy enough to buy all the things that they want.
I often compare myself to others. I ask myself why I cannot be like them. Most of us are the same age, but why is it that our lives are so different from each other. I try to think about what I did that made my life like this. Maybe it is because of some choice that I made years ago that led to my life being like this now.
But the one thing that I realized is I am so different from them as a person. That is the reason why I am not like them. My life may not be like theirs, but it does not mean that my life is not great. I am happy; I am thankful for living every day; I am glad that I am right here, right now at this very moment.
Comparing myself from others stops me from enjoying my life. It takes me away from the present, and it distracts me from the future. Instead of focusing on who I am and who I can be, it pulls me away from reality and drowns me in many what-ifs.
One of the best lessons that I learned in life is that I grow at my own pace. I should never compare myself to others because they are not me, and I am not them. I should never belittle myself and my life.
The first step to enjoying life is to appreciate what you have right now. We should look forward to the future and all of the things that we can achieve. Life may not be the way you want for it to be right now, but keep in mind that you are on the way to a happier tomorrow.
